A North Carolina teenager who studied the death of teenagers in traffic accidents as part of her senior high school project died in a traffic accident near her home. Shannon Nicole Adkins of Clayton died when the pickup truck she was driving was struck head on by another pickup being driven by a 29 year old woman who was charged with driving while impaired. Ms. Adkins, who graduated last spring from Clayton High School, was the 27th Johnston County teenager to die since 2006.

i had shannon in my english class last semester. we both did the same project dealing with car crashes. i love shannon. shes a wonderful person.
