A jury in Wyoming has awarded more than $18 million to a man injured in a tractor-trailer accident in 2006. The plaintiff, an Irish immigrant, suffered a severe traumatic brain injury when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a tractor-trailer truck attempting to merge onto a busy interstate, causing the vehicle to spin and ultimately be struck by another tractor-trailer.

Lawyers for the man argued that it is likely that he will never work again, and that his medical expenses for the rest of his life are substantial. The jury agreed, awarding the man more than $15 million, and his wife more than $2 million.
